What actually happens
You'll get a Zoom link by email after you sign up. Join a few minutes early to get settled and we start on time. I'll say hello and settle everyone, and then I'll guide the meditation. It runs about 45 minutes. You listen, and you follow along as much or as little as you want to. At the end there's a moment of quiet, and then it's over. You can leave straight away. Nothing is asked of you afterwards.
What you need
Nothing. Not a cushion, not a quiet house, not any experience at all. A chair is fine. Your bed is fine. Headphones help if there are other people around, but they aren't necessary. A glass of water within reach.
Who comes
People who can't sleep. People who experience anxiety and depression. People who need a change. People in the middle of a loss. People who are going through some difficult times, a separation, a diagnosis, or a move that has left them feeling unfamiliar. People who have been meaning to try meditation for years and have never quite started.
This is meditation. I'm a meditation teacher. I am not a therapist or a doctor, and these sessions aren't a substitute for mental health treatment. If you're in crisis, call or text 988.

Common questions
Do I have to be on camera?
No. Most people keep their camera off the whole time, and it makes no difference to the session.
Will I have to talk?
No. Nobody is asked to speak or share anything.
What if I've never meditated?
That's who this is for. There's nothing to know beforehand.
What if I cry?
That's completely fine, and it happens most weeks. Your camera can stay off and nobody will know.
What if I have to leave partway through?
Leave whenever you need to. No one will mind and no one will ask.
Is it recorded?
The meditation is — my voice only. Everyone is muted and off camera in the recording, and nothing of yours is ever captured: no video, no audio, no name, no chat. You are not in it and you cannot be. I record it so that everyone who signed up gets it afterwards, whether you made it that evening or not. You can keep it and use it again.
Is it religious?
No.
Do I need a Zoom account?
No, you can join from the link in your browser.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. It's free and it always will be.
What's the difference between this and the course?
Wednesdays I guide you and you rest. The course teaches you to do it yourself — four weeks, eight evenings, ten people, and at the end you have a three-minute practice that's yours and doesn't need me. Wednesdays are free and always will be. The course is fifty dollars and starts September 8.
